    2023 delivered a raft of market and regulatory developments in the UK energy and infrastructure sectors. The UK government’s Powering Up Britain package recognised the importance of energy security, alongside affordability and decarbonisation, and a new Energy Act provided a firmer legal framework for the energy transition, including for low carbon hydrogen and Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage (CCUS). There was also considerable scrutiny of UK infrastructure as water and rail networks came under the spotlight, but opportunities for investment also emerged in the UK’s power networks, digital infrastructure and ports.

  • Danish tax treatment of grid connection costs

    The ELG member Gorrissen Federspiel sharing insights about an agreement aiming to promote the establishment of solar parks and onshore wind farms concluded by the Danish government and selected parties. However, since 1 January 2023, developers have had to pay the grid connection costs themselves, which has slowed down the green transition. This has increased the start-up costs and financial needs of developers; but help may be available through tax legislation.

  • GHR advises Cemex on its new US$ 3 billion bank refinancing

    Cemex, S.A.B. de C.V. (NYSE: CX), the global building materials and services company, successfully refinanced its US$3.0 billion syndicated Credit Agreement, extending the maturity to 2028.
